THE PIPER'S OF
KENT & SUSSEX
The Piper branch of the family is proving very difficult to trace.
The main problem is that the surname is very common, especially in the south of the UK.
I have managed to trace as far back as WILLIAM PIPER (born c. 1813) and SUSAN SWEATMAN (born c. 1793).
They were both born in NORTHIAM, East Sussex.
WILLIAM died before 1841 as his family appears in the 1841 Census and SUSAN is listed as a "Widow".

They married Mar qtr 1870 in Medway (possibly Chatham St. Mary's)
JOHN VALENTINE's parents were:
ORSON VALENTINE and ELIZA JACOBS
ELLEN CRITTENDEN'S parents were :
JOB CRITTENDEN and ALICE NICHOLS
ALICE ELIZA VALENTINE had a brother ERNEST ALFRED VALENTINE (b. 6 Aug 1877). He married ANNIE FIXTER 11 Jun 1898 in Greenwich and had 3 children:
Sidney Edward (b. 29 Dec 1900)
Frederick (b. 6 Aug 1902)
Albert (b. Mar qtr 1906)
